The Golden State Warriors and former Virginia Cavaliers guard Reece Beekman have agreed on a two-way contract, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Despite going undrafted, Beekman will now have the opportunity to prove himself in the NBA with the Warriors.
Throughout his collegiate career, Beekman averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 assists in 32.7 minutes per game. He had a standout final season with the Cavaliers, averaging 14.3 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the field. Despite his scoring abilities, Beekman is known for his defensive prowess, being a three-time ACC All-Defensive team selection and a two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award winner.
With impressive defensive ratings in his last three years at Virginia, Beekman will now have the chance to showcase his skills and earn a spot as a solid player in the NBA on a two-way contract with the Warriors. The Warriors can have up to three players signed to two-way contracts, allowing them to play up to 50 games during the season. This deal gives Beekman a chance to prove himself and make an impact on the Warriors’ roster after being overlooked by draft scouts.
