Hakeem Butler, who was awarded the UFL offensive player of the year for his outstanding performance this spring, will now have a chance to prove himself in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. This is after coach Wade Phillips endorsed him by stating that he should be in the NFL.
During his time with the San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis Battlehawks, Butler made 45 receptions for 652 yards and five touchdowns. Despite being drafted by the Cardinals in 2019, he missed his entire rookie season due to a broken hand and never played a regular-season game for Arizona. He only had the opportunity to play two regular-season games with the Eagles, during which he did not catch a pass. In fact, he saw action on only one offensive snap and 29 on special teams during his time with Philadelphia.
With this new opportunity with the Carolina Panthers, Butler will have a chance to showcase his skills and make a name for himself in the NFL. Rapoport of NFL Media reported that he is set to work out for them soon. Only time will tell if Phillips’ endorsement will pay off for Butler and if he can live up to expectations in the league.
