Isabel Gómez Hernández’s South End home is a testament to the memories she holds dear, particularly those of her daughter Yéssica. The first thing you notice when stepping into her home is the pristine white walls and several panels displaying family photographs. Among them is a picture of Yéssica, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2022 at the age of 22.

Gómez Hernández shared that she and Yéssica had many things in common – they liked the same colors and both had a strong drive to move forward. Yéssica pursued a career as a truck driver, a dream she had since she was a child. Her passion for driving also inspired her mother to start her own school transportation company, Yessica Coreas School Transportation.

In honor of her daughter, Gómez Hernández decided to name her company after Yéssica. She obtained her transportation license, bought a used minivan with her savings, and started her business by driving her daughter Blanca to school. The business grew from there, now serving 14 clients, primarily families who live too close to schools to qualify for public transportation but too far to walk.

Looking to expand, Gómez Hernández is considering purchasing another vehicle and hiring a driver to meet the growing demand for student transportation. She believes there is a significant need for this service and remains committed to honoring her daughter’s legacy through her business.

As you step into Isabel Gómez Hernández’s South End home, it’s impossible not to feel an overwhelming sense of emotion as you see the pristine white walls adorned with family photographs that showcase the bond between mother and daughter.

One photograph stands out more than others – it’s of Yéssica, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2022 at the age of 22.

Isabel shared that she and Yéssica had many things in common – they both loved bright colors and were driven individuals who never gave up on their dreams.

Yéssica’s dream was to become a truck driver like her mother always wanted. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as she lost her life in an accident while on the job.

However, Isabel didn’t let this stop her from pursuing what she believed was right for herself or Yéssica’s legacy.

She started Yessica Coreas School Transportation in honor of her daughter’s love for driving – using all that knowledge gained through years as truck drivers themselves.

She bought a used minivan with some savings left over from buying one for Blanca (her other child) and began driving kids around town.

It started small but quickly grew – now serving 14 clients who are families living too far from schools without access to public transport but too close not to walk.
