Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Gable Steveson has signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills. Steveson, who won a gold medal in the 125kg weight class at the Tokyo Olympics, will be listed as a defensive tackle for the Bills. In a statement to ESPN, Steveson expressed his excitement for the challenge of translating his wrestling skills to football and thanked Coach Sean McDermott, GM Brandon Beane, and the Bills organization for the opportunity.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Steveson made history as the youngest freestyle wrestler to win gold in the super heavyweight division at the age of 21 years, two months, and six days. He secured the gold medal by defeating three-time world champion Geno Petriashvili of Georgia with a two-point move in the final seconds of their match, declaring it as the “match of the century.”

Following his successful NCAA career at University of Minnesota where he was a two-time national champion and a three-time All-American, Steveson had also signed with World Wrestling Entertainment earlier this month but was released by them earlier this month. Known for his celebratory running flips after winning matches, Steveson will wear number 61 for the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent.
