Serena Williams recently spoke about her interest in owning a franchise in the WNBA. The tennis star commended Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark for her ability to remain grounded and stay focused on her game, despite any negativity she may face.

Williams reflected on the challenges she and her sister Venus faced at a young age in the world of tennis, including bullying and harassment both on and off the court. She acknowledged that the criticisms they endured would not be accepted in today’s world.

As a professional athlete, Williams understands the pressures that come with fame and admires Clark’s decision to stay off social media. However, Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington expressed disappointment that Clark didn’t use her platform to speak out against those who have disparaged other players in the league.

Carrington emphasized the importance of using one’s voice to address social issues and urged Clark and other players to speak out against racism, bigotry, misogyny, and other forms of discrimination that exist within the sports industry.
