A poster hanging in the space being renovated at 3025 Mount Vernon Rd. SE in Cedar Rapids advertises the new location of Mamacita Taco Bar, which is set to open around August as Pregame, a sports restaurant. The new restaurant, owned by local restaurateur Jade Luter, will offer a throwback to Cork and Fork, a former favorite on the southeast side of town. The menu will include items such as burgers, tenderloins, salads, croissants, a vegan menu, and a bar.

Luter has been making waves in the local food scene over the past few years. She first opened Daisy’s Garage in Marion before expanding into northeast Cedar Rapids with Cruz’s Cafe and then selling Kingston’s Steakhouse. Mamacita’s was originally opened by Haile Duncan at 834 First Ave. NE in March 2022 before moving to its current location at 3025 Mount Vernon Rd. SE. Before that spot was home to Vernon Bar and Grill.
