Israel Adesanya’s motivation for his upcoming fight against Dricus Du Plessis goes beyond just reclaiming UFC gold. After losing his middleweight title to Sean Strickland in September at UFC 293, Adesanya has been eager to make a return to the octagon.

Adesanya, a two-time UFC middleweight champion, has defended his title five times in his first reign against tough opponents such as Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Robert Whittaker. He briefly lost his belt to Alex Pereira before reclaiming it in a rematch before losing it to Strickland. Now, Adesanya is gearing up for another challenging match against Du Plessis.

In a statement on his YouTube channel, Adesanya expressed his excitement for the upcoming fight while emphasizing that he is not just focused on regaining belts but on defeating his opponents. He is looking forward to the process of training, relaxing and preparing for the fight until the time comes for him to step into the octagon and compete.

Although Du Plessis has confirmed his acceptance of the fight, the official announcement is still pending. Nonetheless, Adesanya remains focused on reclaiming the middleweight title and continuing his legacy in the UFC.
