Spring practice for the Statesboro football team was a time to identify new players and fill the shoes of those who graduated. With only four players returning on offense and defense, the team had a successful spring with players competing for positions and showing dedication to improving.

One standout player emerging from spring practice is rising junior Keon Childers. Dobson has been impressed by Childers’ versatility and impact on both offense as a receiver and defense as a defensive back. Childers has shown great potential on both sides of the ball, making plays as a slot receiver and contributing in various positions in the secondary.

Childers emphasized the importance of leadership and communication in playing dual roles on the team. He believes that being a leader means ensuring everyone on the team is doing their job and communicating effectively. With a team full of athletes and playmakers, Childers is confident in their ability to compete and make plays, emphasizing the importance of physicality on the field.

Dobson is looking forward to seeing his players step up and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming season, with Childers being one of them. The coach is excited about the momentum carrying over into fall practice as they prepare for another successful season.
