Jamie Pikulsky, owner of From Scratch in Uniontown, faced a difficult morning when she discovered her business had been vandalized overnight. She received numerous notifications through voicemails, text messages, and Facebook alerting her to the damage done to her establishment. Two large front door windows and several smaller windows on the side of her building were broken, along with other businesses in the area also being targeted.

Despite the setback, Pikulsky received an outpouring of support from friends, regular customers, and the community. By noon, the broken glass had been cleaned up, measurements were taken for window repairs, and new business logos were being printed. Despite her emotional reaction to the incident, Pikulsky’s main concern was ensuring her employees were paid and keeping the business open.

As she worked to clean up the damage on Wednesday, Pikulsky acknowledged that vandalism is unfortunately a risk that comes with being a business owner. Uniontown police confirmed that the damage was caused by rocks, with some witnesses having captured video footage of the incident but no clear identification of the vandals. The support from her customers was evident during a busier-than-usual lunch rush, showing Pikulsky how much people cared about her and her business. She maintained a positive outlook, focusing on the good that could come out of the situation. The incident highlighted the strength of the community and the unity in rallying behind a local business owner in times of adversity.
