Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has praised the potential of midfielder Caleb Watts to break into the team this season. Despite facing challenges during his first year at the club due to injuries, Watts, a former Australia Under-23 player who featured in the last Olympic Games, signed a new short-term contract with the team after showing promise.

Watts joined Exeter City as a free agent after leaving Southampton last summer and scored on his debut in a win against Cheltenham Town. However, his season was limited by a hamstring injury that saw him make only 11 appearances.

Caldwell acknowledged the difficulties that Watts faced last season and commended him for his contributions to the team. He believes that with a full pre-season and improved fitness, Watts has the potential to be a valuable asset to the team. Looking ahead, Caldwell is optimistic about Watts’ future with Exeter City and is confident that a fit and healthy Watts can make a significant impact on the team. With his talent and determination, Watts has the opportunity to establish himself as a key player for the club in the upcoming season.
