The New York Giants have been keeping a close eye on running back Jacob Saylors, who recently visited the team. According to sources, Saylors was released from his contract with the UFL after the season ended. Art Stapleton of USA TODAY was the first to report this upcoming transaction.

Saylors began his football career as an undrafted free agent for the Cincinnati Bengals out of ETSU in 2023. He spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons before being placed on injured reserve on November 20 and ultimately waived due to injury on January 2. Following his departure from the Falcons, Saylors signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL.

In nine games this season, Saylors impressed with 461 rushing yards, which ranked as the second-highest in the league. He also scored five touchdowns and maintained an impressive 4.9 yards per carry average. Additionally, Saylors contributed 23 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns through the air. He even outperformed former Giants running back Wayne Gallman, earning a spot on the 2024 All-UFL Team.

Currently, the Giants have 91 players on their roster, with one spot remaining under an exemption. Before Saylors can be officially signed, a corresponding roster move will need to take place. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story on Giants Wire.

The Giants are looking to add depth to their running back corps and Saylors could be a good fit for their needs.

Saylors has shown impressive talent and potential throughout his career and could be a valuable asset to the Giants if he continues to perform at this level.

As they prepare to sign Saylors, it’s important for them to consider how he fits into their overall plan for next season.

With only one spot remaining under an exemption, any addition will require careful consideration of its impact on other areas of need.

It remains to be seen what specific role Saylors will play within their offense or if he’ll be able to earn enough playing time to make a meaningful impact.
