Mark Byington, the coach of Vanderbilt, has announced the addition of Kijani Wright to his team. Wright is a former McDonald’s All-American player who played 28 games as a sophomore at Southern California. Standing at 6-foot-9, he will be a valuable asset for the Commodores in the upcoming season.

Wright averaged 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12 minutes on the court during his time at USC. He had his best performance against Oregon State, scoring a career-high 12 points in February. Byington expressed excitement about working with Wright and developing his skills, highlighting his athleticism and versatility on the court.

With a shooting percentage of 58.4% overall and 71.4% at the free-throw line, Wright has shown promise as a player with potential to make a significant impact on Vanderbilt’s roster. He previously played at Sierra Canyon High School in California and was ranked as the 38th overall recruit nationally by ESPN. In addition to being an accomplished basketball player, Wright was also a member of the U.S. U16 national team that secured victory in the FIBA Americas Championships.

By adding such a talented and versatile player like Wright to their roster, Vanderbilt is looking forward to having success under Byington’s leadership this season.
