Oklahoma City Thunder have traded Cherokee Nation citizen Lindy Waters III to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for pick 52 in the 2024 NBA Draft. The trade was announced on June 26 by Shams Charania. After completing a four-year college career at Oklahoma State University, Waters joined the Oklahoma City Blue in October 2021. He signed a two-way contract with the Thunder in February 2022, which was later converted into a multi-year standard contract in February 2023.

During this season, Waters played a crucial role in leading the Blue, the Thunder’s G League team, to its first G League title. In the championship game against the Maine Celtics, Waters scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and secured two steals. Following his success in the G League playoffs, Waters returned to the Thunder roster for the NBA Playoffs, where the team advanced to the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
