Nelly Korda, the dominant player of the year, entered the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania as a favorite. With six consecutive wins under her belt, including the Chevron Championship, her status as the No. 1 player in the world made her heavily favored to take home the title.

However, things took a turn for the worse after just three holes. Starting on the 10th hole, Korda opened with a bogey and was at 1 over when she reached the par-3 12th hole. Her tee shot landed in a bunker and after multiple shots into the water, she ended up with a septuple-bogey 10 on that hole.

Now facing an uphill battle, Korda will need an exceptional performance over the remaining 33 holes to have any chance of making it to the weekend. The meltdown on the 12th hole has put her at risk of missing out on contention and fans are shocked by her poor performance. Despite being one of the top players in the world, even she is not immune to mistakes on course and this tournament will be a test for how she bounces back from setbacks like this one.
