The bias towards publishing only positive results in scientific research is becoming increasingly problematic. Researchers are often more likely to disprove their hypothesis than validate it, but there is a lack of incentive to publish negative results. This can lead to a distorted view of the scientific process and hinder future breakthroughs.

To address this issue, the Journal of Trial and Error was founded with the goal of exclusively publishing negative results. By doing so, the journal aims to change the perception of failure within the scientific community and promote a culture of transparency and openness in scientific research. In a recent interview with guest host Anna Rothschild, Dr. Sarahanne Field, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Trial And Error and assistant professor in behavioral and social sciences at the University of Groningen, discussed the importance of recognizing and publishing negative results in order to foster a culture of learning and growth within the scientific community.
