ABC 6 has announced that former 10TV sports anchor Dave Holmes will be joining the station as its sports director. In a post on social media, Holmes expressed his excitement to work at a station that values culture and provides creative freedom. He will be taking over the position previously held by Clay Hall, who retired in February.

As the new sports director, Holmes will be leading “The Football Fever,” a pregame and postgame show for Ohio State Football games. After nine years with 10TV, Holmes left his sports anchor position on April 12. In a heartfelt goodbye message shared on social media, he reflected on his time at the station and the unexpected turns his career has taken. Despite originally intending to retire at 10TV, Holmes now looks forward to this new opportunity at ABC 6.

Holmes’ broadcasting career began when he won the reality show “ESPN Dream Job” as a student at Kent State University. This led to a one-year contract with ESPN, making him the youngest anchor in national television history. Throughout his career, Holmes has received 26 regional Emmy awards for his work in sports broadcasting.
