Bill Nye, also known as the “Science Guy” for his infectious passion for science and hilarious sense of humor, is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced their latest batch of honorees, including Nye in the TV category alongside eight other notable individuals.

Nye’s career began in Seattle after graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1977. After working as an engineer for Boeing, he combined his love for science and comedy after winning a Steve Martin look-alike contest. He went on to become a successful comedy writer and performer on Seattle’s “Almost Live” before creating his Emmy award-winning show “Bill Nye the Science Guy.”

In addition to his television work, Nye has authored eight children’s books, made it onto the New York Times Bestsellers List, serves as CEO of the Planetary Society, and sits on the board of the Mount St. Helens Institute. With his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Nye will be joining an illustrious group of celebrities honored on the famous sidewalk.

While an official date for Nye’s star ceremony has not been announced yet, fans around the world are eagerly anticipating this special celebration of his remarkable career and contributions to science education.
