Johnny Beecher, a native of Elmira, recently completed his first season in the NHL playing for the Boston Bruins. Despite Boston not advancing past the playoffs, Beecher made his mark in Elmira sports history by scoring in his first postseason game. Selected in the first round of the 2019 NHL draft, Beecher played 52 games, scoring seven goals and making three assists. He also had a solid 54.6 faceoff percentage and averaged over 10 minutes of ice time per game.

Playing during Boston’s 100th year of professional hockey was a special experience for Beecher. He recalls the excitement of opening night at TD Garden, with a sold-out crowd and the celebration of the team’s centennial season. The atmosphere and support from the fans made it a night to remember for Beecher.
