In 2009, Taylor’s performance in the passing game showed significant improvement as he threw for 2,311 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Hokies ended the season with a 10-win record and a victory over Tennessee in the 2009 Chick-Fil-A Bowl, with Taylor contributing 209 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.

In 2010, Taylor reached his career peak when he achieved personal bests in passing yards (2,473) and passing touchdowns (24). Despite a rough start, the Hokies went on to secure 11 consecutive wins, including a thrilling victory over No. 20 Florida State in the ACC Championship game. Taylor’s performance in the game, throwing three touchdowns and rushing for one, earned him MVP honors and led to his third ACC championship win.

Taylor ended his college career with an impressive record of 34-8, making him Virginia Tech’s winningest starting quarterback.
