Denver Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues with a focus on seventh-year cornerback Tremon Smith, No. 1. Smith was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft and has played for several teams before signing with the Broncos in March 2023. During his time in Denver, Smith played one snap on defense and 391 snaps on special teams. The Broncos signed him with the hopes of him becoming a key player on special teams, but with a crowded cornerback depth chart and the emergence of Marvin Mims as the kick return specialist, his spot on the 53-man roster is uncertain. The team could save $2.5 million by releasing him, so he will need to make a good impression during training camp to secure his spot in Denver. Overall, Smith’s future with the Broncos is uncertain and he will need to prove himself during training camp to earn a spot on the roster as the team has several other options at cornerback and on special teams. If he fails to make an impact, his time in Denver could be short-lived.
