The Statesboro Lady Blue Devil tennis team had an impressive season, ending with a record of 20-6 and reaching the state 5-A quarterfinals. One of the standout performers of the season was the doubles team of Lindsay Collins and Annalisa Small. This duo not only won the region championship but also had an overall record of 21-1.
Annalisa Small began playing tennis in sixth grade after watching her older brother play. Despite some initial reluctance, she quickly fell in love with the sport while playing on the middle school team. Her passion for tennis has grown, and she has become a key player on the high school team. Small expressed her enjoyment of playing second doubles this season and reflected on the team’s accomplishment of reaching the elite eight in the state tournament.
Looking ahead to her senior year, Annalisa is excited about the potential for the team to make another deep playoff run. She believes that they have the talent and drive to reach the elite eight again and is eager to continue competing for the SHS tennis team. Coach Brian Hall praised Annalisa for her hard work and coachability, noting that she made significant improvements on the court throughout the season.
