Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has released a video on his Facebook account, detailing his recovery process following the assassination attempt on May 15th. In the fourteen-minute clip, Fico recounts the events of that day and expresses gratitude to the medical staff who saved his life. Since last week, he has been recuperating at home.

Despite the arrest of a 71-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, Fico forgives the shooter and chooses not to press charges. He attributes the incident to “evil and political hatred” instigated by the opposition. Fico accuses them of inciting supporters against him and points fingers at certain media outlets allegedly funded by George Soros.

In addition to discussing his recovery, Fico also uses the video to criticize Western countries and the European Union for imposing their viewpoints on others. He specifically mentions his stance on the conflict in Ukraine, which differs from that of his predecessors. Fico claims that he has been portrayed negatively in the media and by political adversaries due to his contrasting views, which he believes led to the assassination attempt. He urges the opposition to cease its smear campaign against him in order to prevent further incidents.
