Discover the awe-inspiring view of Milwaukee’s skyline from a drone’s perspective on a picturesque August day in 2023. The footage captured by Chelsey Lewis and Mike De Sisti of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel showcases the beauty of the city’s architectural landscape.

Recently, Architectural Digest recognized Milwaukee as one of the most beautiful skylines in the world. Despite its history of not boasting a grand downtown, Milwaukee has now earned a place among the elite, ranking number 15 on the list of 17 global skylines. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the city, placing it alongside renowned cities such as New York City, Chicago, and Seattle.

In his book “The Making of Milwaukee,” historian John Gurda highlighted the city’s minor-league skyline compared to other similar-sized cities. However, Milwaukee’s inclusion in Architectural Digest’s list signifies its ascension to the big leagues of architectural splendor. The article commends Milwaukee’s skyline for its proximity to Lake Michigan and iconic buildings designed by esteemed architect Santiago Calatrava.

Despite being traditionally overlooked in favor of cities like Chicago, Milwaukee is now gaining recognition for its stunning skyline. The city’s new developments, including the Northwestern Mutual Tower, contribute to its architectural charm. Although Architectural Digest used a photo from 2014 that does not showcase these newer buildings, Milwaukee’s skyline continues to captivate with its unique blend of historical and modern architecture.
