Mitchell, a second-round pick by the Colts, is the ninth and final member of the draft class to sign their four-year rookie deals with the AFC South club. He had an impressive college career at Texas, recording 93 passes for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns in 35 games. Some expected him to be drafted higher than 52nd overall, but Colts General Manager Chris Ballard dismissed reports questioning Mitchell’s attitude as “bullshit” following the selection.

Despite being drafted lower than expected, Mitchell is using it as motivation by choosing to wear No. 10, representing the 10 receivers who were drafted ahead of him this year. Ballard will be pleased if this motivation helps Mitchell succeed in the pros, potentially changing Ballard’s initial feelings about what led him to Indianapolis.
