Their relationship began when she was 40 years old and he was a student in her drama class in Amiens, France. Despite initial resistance from his parents and her concerns about age differences, they continued their relationship. She ultimately divorced her ex-husband in 2006 and later remarried Emmanuel Macron in 2007.
Brigitte and her late ex-husband had one son and two daughters, who are now adults. Following her divorce, she was able to marry Emmanuel Macron, who went on to become the French President in 2017.
