In February 2019, David Ryan Linden, the CEO of Silver State Health Services, LLC, applied for a federal grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) intended to provide services to indigent persons. However, an indictment alleges that Linden misused $735,200 of the grant funds in June 2019 by transferring $357,000 to an unrelated company called Freedom Infusions, LLC.

According to authorities, Linden became a signatory on Freedom Infusions’ bank account without any affiliation to the grant or Silver State Health Services. The $340,000 transferred to Freedom Infusions was allegedly used for personal gain and not for the intended purpose of providing services to indigent persons.

Linden is now facing a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted. The case highlights the importance of ensuring that federal grant funds are used for their intended purpose and not diverted for personal gain.

The jury trial is set to begin on August 27, 2024. It remains to be seen what evidence will be presented in court and whether Linden will be found guilty or innocent of these charges. However one thing is certain – this case serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability when it comes to managing federal funds.

In addition to facing criminal charges, Linden may also face civil penalties for his actions. It is important for individuals and organizations involved in managing federal funds to ensure that they are using them appropriately and transparently.

Overall this case underscores the need for better oversight and regulation when it comes to managing federal grant funds. The U.S Attorney’s Office will continue its investigation into this matter and bring justice if necessary.

It is important that we take this seriously as it sets a bad example for other organizations who may be tempted to take advantage of these opportunities for personal gain rather than use them appropriately for their intended purpose which is providing essential services to people in need.
