Ex-Super Eagles International Bright Omokaro has offered his insights on what the current team needs to do in order to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Following their recent 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Omokaro emphasized the importance of players having more time to train and play together in order to improve their performance. Despite managing to secure a draw at home during the World Cup qualifiers, he believes the team has the potential to showcase their skills and implement effective strategies to defeat their opponents.

While acknowledging the individual efforts of the players in the last match, Omokaro highlighted the need for more collective responsibility among the team to achieve their goals. He stressed that togetherness and rigorous training are essential for success on both an individual and team level. He advised coach Gernot Rohr to consider local players who are eager and goal-oriented, emphasizing that players should earn their spot in the team based on performance and competition within the camp.

With three draws in just three games so far, Omokaro urged Nigeria’s Super Eagles to focus on defeating Benin Republic in their next match if they want to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup. The two teams face off against each other at 5:00 p.m Nigerian time on Monday in Abidjan with Nigeria currently sitting fifth place in Group C. While it may seem like a daunting task, with hard work and dedication, Omokaro believes that this team can overcome any obstacles they may face on their path towards glory.
