In July 2020, tech CEO Fahim Saleh was brutally murdered in his Manhattan condo. Tyrese Haspil, a former personal assistant of Saleh, was found guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree grand larceny, one count of second-degree burglary, tampering with evidence, and concealing a human corpse.

Haspil confessed to fatally stabbing and dismembering Saleh after embezzling nearly $400,000 from him. Prosecutors argued that Haspil meticulously planned the murder to cover up his financial crimes. However, Haspil’s defense team claimed that he killed Saleh in an attempt to impress his girlfriend due to an “extreme emotional disturbance.”

Saleh had initially hired Haspil as a personal assistant in May 2018. Despite being given access to his finances, Haspil took advantage of the opportunity to embezzle money for lavish gifts. The trial revealed how Haspil had carefully plotted the murder and how he had disposed of Saleh’s body in pieces.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg stated that Haspil’s actions tragically ended Saleh’s life and that he would be held accountable for his crimes. As this story continues to develop, updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
