Ohio State University football player, Corey Davonta Smith Jr., was arrested on Wednesday in Columbus by the U.S. Marshals Service for a parole violation. Smith, who played as a wide receiver for the Buckeyes from 2013-2016, was found and arrested at a residence on Republic Avenue by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.

According to a spokesperson for the marshals service, Smith initially answered the door at the Republic Avenue home but then shut it on the officers. He was later discovered in the attic of the house where he was taken into custody. Smith is wanted for a federal probation violation in West Virginia and also has a failure to appear in court on a 2018 aggravated robbery charge in Summitt County.

In March of 2021, Smith received a 57-month prison sentence for his involvement in a drug distribution ring that had connections in both Ohio and West Virginia. He pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. This content is copyright 2024 Nexstar Media, Inc.
