Kim Ng, the former general manager of the Miami Marlins, has been appointed as a senior advisor by Athletes Unlimited. With her extensive experience in professional sports, Ng will oversee the development of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), which is set to launch in the spring of 2025.

Ng, a former college softball player at the University of Chicago, has also worked as an assistant GM with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, as well as serving as MLB’s senior vice president of baseball operations under Joe Torre. After spending three seasons with the Marlins, she parted ways with the team in October after declining a mutual option.

The AUSL is set to begin with four touring teams and a 30-game season airing on ESPN networks. Former players Jessica Mendoza, Cat Osterman, and Natasha Watley will serve as league advisors and work with Ng on the strategic direction of the AUSL. Looking ahead, the league aims to expand to 6-8 different cities by 2026 in anticipation of softball being included in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

Ng expressed her enthusiasm about joining Athletes Unlimited, viewing it as an opportunity to be part of a significant movement in the sport. She believes that AUSL’s mission aligns with her values and passion for promoting women’s sports and empowering athletes to reach their full potential.
