In the 2024 spring season, a former Lions quarterback named Adrian Martinez made history by winning the MVP award in the United Football League (UFL). Martinez had previously played for the Lions as a rookie out of Kansas State before being replaced by Jared Goff, Teddy Bridgewater, and Nate Sudfeld.

Despite being Detroit’s fourth-string quarterback, Martinez had an outstanding season in the UFL. He led the league in rushing among all running backs and also threw for 1,750 yards and 15 touchdowns. This impressive performance helped the Birmingham Stallions to a league-best 9-1 record.

Martinez’s success in the new UFL, which was formed from the merger of the XFL and USFL, is a testament to his skills and determination. His talent was showcased in this new chapter of his career, setting the stage for even greater accomplishments in the future.

Congratulations to Adrian Martinez on his impressive performance in the UFL!
