In 2024, the New York Jets are looking to add some new talent to their roster, and one player who could be a valuable addition is former Chicago Bears standout Tarik Cohen. Cohen, 28, has signed with the Jets on a one-year deal, joining Aaron Rodgers as another former All-Pro looking to return from a serious injury.

Cohen’s journey back to the field has been long and arduous. He was initially sidelined by a torn ACL, MCL, and leg fracture in 2020 while playing for the Chicago Bears. After missing two seasons due to his injuries, he then suffered a torn Achilles while working out as a free agent. Despite briefly signing to Carolina’s practice squad, he didn’t play in a game.

Now that he has joined the Jets, Cohen will have an opportunity to prove himself as a reserve running back and special teamer alongside other key players like Breece Hall and rookie fourth-round draft pick Braelon Allen. The NFL’s new kickoff rules for 2024 could also give Cohen an opportunity to showcase his skills as a return man. Jets head coach Robert Saleh highlighted the importance of kick returners, anticipating over 100 touches per year for these players.

Despite his injuries, Cohen’s previous success in surpassing 1,600 all-purpose yards in his first two seasons in the NFL demonstrates his potential impact in various roles on the field. At just 5-foot-6 and 191 pounds, Cohen has proven himself as a pass catcher and kick/punt returner despite his size. With the Jets set to take on some big challenges in the upcoming season
