In a recent announcement, Ford management has informed unions that they will be cutting 600 more jobs from their Valencia plant. This comes after the company had previously shut down production of the Galaxy minivan and S-Max station wagon, resulting in the closure of 1,100 jobs in the spring of last year. However, the company remains committed to producing electric vehicles in Spain by the end of the decade.
Ford currently employs 4,800 workers at its Valencia plant, with production focused on the Kuga sports utility vehicle. The company has also announced plans to produce a new hybrid SUV model for the European market and beyond starting from 2027. While this may result in some job losses, Ford’s long-term plan is to reduce carbon emissions and align with their commitment to sustainability by selling only electric cars in Europe starting from 2030.
