Flour Bluff Independent School District recently announced that they will be offering a sports officiating class for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The class will be available to juniors and seniors as an elective course, giving students the opportunity to learn officiating skills for football, volleyball, and basketball during the fall semester. In the spring, soccer, softball, and baseball will be taught.

Upon completion of each course, students will be able to reach out to the corresponding sport officiating chapter and begin shadowing officials right away. Flour Bluff ISD is one of only 15 districts in Texas to offer this program to students, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn a valuable trade and develop important skills for their future.

The district emphasized that the sports officiating class will help students build characteristics that will benefit them in their future endeavors. Students will have the chance to develop and refine their interpersonal communication skills, as well as connect with the community through officiating opportunities. This course not only provides students with valuable skills but also gives them the chance to engage with their community in a meaningful way.
