In the face of extreme conditions and potential global disasters, there are certain creatures that stand out for their survival abilities. Water bears, cockroaches, sharks, vultures, Greenland sharks and Emperor penguins all possess unique characteristics that allow them to thrive in even the harshest environments.

Water bears, also known as tardigrades, are tiny creatures that can survive almost any harsh environment on Earth. They are incredibly resilient and have a protein called Dsup that protects their genetic material and allows them to survive in extreme conditions. These creatures can withstand high levels of radiation that would be lethal to other organisms.

Cockroaches are another species known for their survival skills. They survived the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs and have continued to thrive thanks to their adaptability, rapid reproduction rate, and resistance to poisons. Cockroaches can squeeze into small spaces for shelter and eat virtually anything, making them incredibly difficult to eradicate.

Vultures have evolved to thrive in conditions that might be considered catastrophic for other species. Their ability to digest even harmful bacteria and their resistance to disease make them well-equipped for surviving global disasters. In a scenario like a zombie apocalypse, vultures could even benefit from the abundance of undead creatures.

Sharks, especially the Greenland shark, have adapted to life in the deep sea and have incredibly long lifespans. These creatures have survived major historical events like world wars and nuclear weapons testing, making them likely candidates for surviving future global disasters that may impact the ocean. Sharks have been on Earth for millions of years and have evolved to withstand various challenges.
