On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the Mljet National Park. Members of the Public Fire Brigade (JVP) and DVD Mljet were quickly called to the scene by the Croatian Fire Association (HVZ). The fire affected low vegetation and a small area of pine forest in a difficult-to-access terrain.

The firefighters arrived at 6:40 a.m. and were able to localize the fire within an hour. By 7:30 a.m., they had fully extinguished it, preventing it from spreading further and causing more damage to the national park. Despite not mentioning the cause of the fire in their report, HVZ praised the quick response and coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams for their timely intervention.

It is important to recognize the bravery and dedication of these firefighters who risked their lives to protect both our communities and natural spaces. Their hard work and commitment are commendable, as they successfully stopped this dangerous blaze before it could escalate further into a catastrophic disaster. Their actions serve as a reminder of how critical firefighters are in ensuring public safety and preserving our environment for future generations.
