A forklift mishap caused a fire at the MPC Metallurgical Processing building in Warren, Michigan last week. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze. The incident occurred on Warner Avenue near Nine Mile Road around 11:30 p.m.

Employees at the building informed firefighters that a machine inside the building was on fire and all staff had been safely evacuated. Fire crews quickly brought the fire under control, including extinguishing flames that had spread to the roof.

Upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered that a forklift operator accidentally struck a hydraulic line, causing hydraulic fluid to leak and ignite the machine. The Warren Fire Department contained the fire within 30 minutes and determined the incident to be accidental.
