As the 2024 Copa America approaches, Argentina remains firmly at the top of FIFA’s men’s world rankings. The reigning champions have been in excellent form, with just one loss in their last 20 games, a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in November 2023. They also secured victory in the 2021 Copa America by defeating Brazil in the final at the Maracana.

France and Belgium are currently joining Argentina in the top three, with France holding second place and Belgium third. These rankings have remained unchanged since the previous update in April. Brazil has climbed up to fourth after defeating England 1-0 at Wembley in March, while England has slipped down to fifth.

The rest of the top ten is made up of Portugal in sixth, Netherlands in seventh, Spain in eighth, Croatia in ninth, and Italy in tenth. There has been only one change within the top ten since April – a swap between Croatia and Italy.

The US Men’s National Team (USMNT) remains in 11th place, making them the third-highest ranked team participating in the upcoming Copa America. Liberia has made the biggest leap up ten places to 142nd, while Equatorial Guinea experienced a significant drop of ten places to 89th.

With Canada as their first opponents on Thursday, Fans can follow all the action of both European Championship and Copa America on The Athletic for more exclusive coverage of these tournaments.
