A “Thriving Together” event was held at the YMCA in Dunmore on Saturday, with families from the Greater Scranton Area in attendance. The goal of the event was to raise awareness and celebrate the organization’s well-being initiative called “Mental health is wealth.”

Families had a great time participating in various family fun activities at the event, including a giant dart board, multiple bounce houses, and a chance to meet Wilkes-barra Scranton Mascot Tux. However, what truly stood out and kept everyone relaxed was the alpaca petting zoo.

According to Haley Schaffer, an alpaca enthusiast, the animals served as emotional support animals that were soft, friendly, and similar to having a furry buddy at home. They provided a comforting experience for attendees at the event.

The event also featured flowers blooming at Nay Aug Park, adding to the overall pleasant and positive atmosphere. In the future, the program plans to host more events that bring people together through activities and practices that promote mental and emotional health.
