On Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported that the Falcons and Eagles were expected to face punishments for tampering with Kirk Cousins and Saquon Barkley, respectively. However, the work week has now ended and there is no definitive timeline for the punishments to be announced. The report over the weekend suggested that both teams were going to face punishment, with the Falcons potentially facing harsher penalties compared to the Eagles. Regardless of the reason for the delay, there is no urgent deadline for the punishments to be handed out. If the penalties involve 2025 draft picks, the decision doesn’t need to be made until April of next year. It’s worth noting that Schefter used the word “likely,” so there was no definitive timeline for the punishments to be announced. The league’s transparency about the evidence and investigation process will also be interesting to see when the punishments are finally announced.
