On the third day of The Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, severe thunderstorms and extreme heat have caused complications. The tournament was halted on Saturday during Round 3 due to stormy weather and a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for parts of the state. Lightning struck a tree on the golf course, injuring three people who required medical attention.

First responders rushed to assist the injured individuals at the TPC River Highlands Golf Course after the lightning strike. Two people were taken to the hospital while a third person refused treatment, as reported by the National Weather Service. The incident occurred near the 5th hole on the golf course, causing concern among players and spectators.

In addition to the thunderstorms, extreme heat has been a challenge for those at the championship this weekend. Cromwell is currently under a heat advisory until Sunday evening, with temperatures feeling like they are near 100 degrees. Despite the heat, the tournament continues with players and fans taking precautions to stay cool and safe.

While relief from the heat is expected to come with a cold front in the Northeast, there is a renewed threat of severe thunderstorms on Sunday. The weather conditions have added complexity to the tournament, but participants and organizers are working together to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

The Travelers Championship has faced challenges before due to extreme weather conditions, including heavy rain in previous years that forced officials to delay or cancel rounds altogether. However, this year’s tournament has continued despite these challenges thanks to quick thinking and cooperation from all involved.

The excitement surrounding this year’s championship has been dampened by these unforeseen circumstances but rest assured that everyone involved is doing their best to ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely for all participants including golfers, caddies , fans , sponsors and volunteers alike .
