Edinburgh Science, a charitable organization founded in 1989, is committed to inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the world around them. With a strong emphasis on education, the organization provides unique science-themed experiences for students through their touring program, Generation Science and annual event, Careers Hive.

One of Edinburgh Science’s most well-known initiatives is the Edinburgh Science Festival, which was the world’s first festival of science and technology and is still one of Europe’s largest. The two-week Festival offers a diverse range of events for adults and families to enjoy.

In recent years, Edinburgh Science has placed a key focus on climate change and the environment. In 2019, they awarded the Edinburgh Medal to Christiana Figueres, a prominent Costa Rican diplomat who played a crucial role in the development of the Paris Climate Agreement. This recognition led to the establishment of the Climate Co-Lab, an online platform that brings together various sectors to generate collaborative ideas to accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon future. One of their successful initiatives that came out of this collaboration is The NetZeroToolkit, an online resource that helps small and medium-sized enterprises develop carbon management strategies.

Edinburgh Science extends its reach internationally through its partnership with Abu Dhabi Science Festival as Major Programming Partner. Through this initiative, they provide content, curatorial advice and training for science communicators worldwide.
