Tristan da Cunha, known as the most remote inhabited island in the world, has been showcased in a pair of images released by NASA. These pictures were captured by Landsat 9, which was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California in 2021.

The first image provides a bird’s eye view of the island group, with three islands forming a triangle in the deep blue ocean. The larger island, located towards the top right corner, features a white peak. The islands are mostly covered in dark green vegetation, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding ocean.

In the second image, we see Tristan da Cunha up close, highlighting Queen Mary’s Peak and the location tag for Edinburgh Of the Seven Seas. The circular island has irregular edges, with a white peak visible at the top. The landscape transitions from light green at the top to darker green at the base, all while being surrounded by the deep blue ocean.

NASA provided a detailed overview of Tristan da Cunha, describing it as a remote island located halfway between the southern tips of South America and Africa. The island is known for its abundant seabird population and natural environment being a key feature of the area. Offshore giant kelp forests surround
