Last night, Union-Endicott’s technology and engineering department hosted its annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) event. The aim of the event was to give students, friends, and family a better understanding of the role that science, technology, engineering, art, and math play in the global economy.

During the event, Jamie Greco, a 1995 Union-Endicott graduate and General Sculpting Senior Manager at General Motors, spoke about various career paths available in the STEAM fields. Greco emphasized the importance of further education through college, trade programs or military service.

The attendees had a chance to experience a flight simulator and view projects created by students in welding custom metal signs carpentry classes offered in the technology and engineering department. Freshman Joe Chicuorka showcased his work on a refurbished fire truck project.

Union-Endicott High School’s technology department was recently honored with the New York State Technology Education & Engineering Association Program of Excellence Award. This prestigious award is one of the highest recognitions given by the New York State Technology & Engineering Educators Association.

Overall, the STEAM night provided a valuable learning experience and insight into the exciting opportunities available in the fields of science
