In recent years, Spencer Fane attorney Peter Goplerud has been busy co-authoring textbooks and providing legal expertise in the sports law field. Along with four other industry professionals, he recently published Sports Law: Cases and Materials, the tenth edition of which is available from Carolina Academic Press.
The book covers a range of topics in sports law, including Amateur Sports, Professional Sports, and Issues Common to Both. Its comprehensive approach allows professors to choose the most relevant topics for their students, while its skills-based approach ensures that students gain practical experience in studying this complex area of law.
In addition to his work on Sports Law: Cases and Materials, Peter Goplerud also serves as of counsel in the Higher Education practice at Spencer Fane. His focus on higher education and sports law has made him a frequent lecturer and an accomplished author in this field. He has also worked extensively on accreditation issues, particularly in legal education, having chaired several ABA Site Evaluation teams.
