Agriculture and Food Science Exploration (AFSE) Day is back for the third time, taking place on Wednesday, July 10. This exciting event is perfect for youth in grades 6-9 who are passionate about science, biology, chemistry, engineering, computers, agriculture, mathematics, and food science. If you love outdoor activities, having fun and learning new things, don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity.

The AFSE Day is a partnership between Mower County 4-H, Riverland Community College, Nexus Cooperative and Austin Community Education. Participants will have the chance to immerse themselves in agronomy, animal science and food science through engaging tours, hands-on learning labs and leadership development activities. Get ready for an adventure with activities like a corn/soybean/drone activity, a dairy farm tour, a visit to an ethanol plant to learn about biofuels and a food science activity with Hormel Foods.

Each location will have hands-on activities for participants to apply what they’ve learned. Moreover, participants will have the chance to learn about leadership from State 4-H Ambassadors. To register for this event visit by June 26. The cost is $12 per participant which includes a meal and a t-shirt.
