The Independent Commission investigating the mass shooting in Lewiston met on Thursday morning to discuss their findings. During the meeting, they heard testimony from Col. Mark Ochoa, a representative of the Psychological Health Program for the Army Reserve. The commission is made up of medical and legal professionals who questioned Ochoa about various aspects of the shootings.

One of the questions asked was about what should be done if someone in the Army Reserve is unresponsive when contacted by a Partial Hospitalization Program. Ochoa stated that from a medical perspective, they are always available to help. However, he noted that the decision on how to proceed would ultimately be up to the person’s commanding officers.

The commission is currently working on finalizing its report on the shootings, which is expected to be released sometime this summer. They are focused on gathering all pertinent information and perspectives in order to provide a comprehensive analysis of the events that took place in Lewiston.
