On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. ET, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust will hold a hearing titled “Follow the Science?: Oversight of the Biden Covid-19 Administrative State Response.” The focus of this hearing will be on the Subcommittee’s findings regarding the Biden Administration’s influence on the FDA to expedite the approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and boosters.

During the hearing, Congress will address concerns about how the Biden Administration pressured the FDA to lower agency standards and approve the vaccine despite reports of potential injury among young Americans. The expedited approval also led to mandate vaccines for certain groups. As a result, there have been calls for reforms to ensure greater accountability within government agencies when it comes to vaccine approval processes.

The witnesses scheduled to testify at this hearing include Dr. Philip Krause, MD, former Deputy Director of the FDA Office of Vaccines Research & Review; Aaron Siri, a vaccine litigation expert; Jordan Vaughn, MD, Founder and President of Microvascular Research Foundation in Birmingham; and Andrew Tobias Pavia MD, Chief of Division Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at University Utah School of Medicine. Each witness will provide insight and testimony regarding vaccine approval processes and maintaining transparency and accountability in government agencies.

Overall, this hearing will be an important opportunity for Congress to examine issues related to vaccine approval processes within government agencies and explore potential reforms that could ensure greater accountability in these areas.
