Craig Martell, the former chief digital and artificial intelligence officer at the Department of Defense, has been appointed as the chief technology officer at Cohesity. In a statement released on Monday, Martell expressed his excitement about joining President and CEO Sanjay Poonen and the talented team at Cohesity.

As a two-time Wash100 winner, Martell emphasized the importance of advancing AI and machine learning capabilities to address key data challenges in the enterprise sector. During his time at the Department of Defense, he led the organization’s CDAO aimed at advancing digital and AI strategies and policies. He played a crucial role in driving adoption of data, analytics, digital services, and AI within DOD.

Prior to his work with DOD, Martell held senior positions at Lyft, Dropbox, and LinkedIn focusing on machine learning, machine intelligence, and AI initiatives. With extensive experience in industry makes him an invaluable asset to Cohesity as they continue to push boundaries of innovation in AI and machine learning.
