The veteran England defender Ashley Young has signed a one-year contract extension with Everton. At 38 years old, Young joined the Toffees last year and made 34 appearances as they finished 15th in the previous season. The Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye is also set to join Everton, with talks progressing well. Ndiaye scored four goals in 46 games for Marseille last season after moving from Sheffield United for £20m.

If the agreement is finalized, Ndiaye will become Everton’s third signing of the summer, following winger Jack Harrison and midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. Young, who has played for Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Inter Milan, has an impressive career resume, winning the Premier League, Serie A, the FA Cup, and the Europa League, as well as earning 39 England caps.

Young expressed his excitement to continue with Everton, stating that it was a “no-brainer” decision for him to sign again. He emphasized his love for the club and its potential for growth. Young will stay with Everton until June 2025 and remains determined to contribute to the team despite his age. Earlier this month, Everton’s captain Seamus Coleman also signed a one-year contract extension until June 2025.
